Welcome To Our Senior Members ...

Alford Golf Club has a very lively and friendly Senior Section admirably managed by convenor Bill Mackie and his hard-working committee.

There is certainly no shortage of competitive golf for the mature player (over 55). Club sweeps organised by the seniors run three times a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) – just pop a pound in the box and a draw is organised on the spot. The sweeps and a winter league competition are staged through the winter. There are also some fourteen keenly contested club competitions in various formats.

Inter-Club Matches ...

Furthermore, Alford takes part in the Central Aberdeenshire District Seniors League [CADS] and the North East of Scotland Senior Golfers Association [NESSGA], allowing members to sample other beautiful Aberdeenshire courses at very affordable prices.

We have a full programme of inter-club matches.  Currently we play Aboyne, Ballater, Cruden Bay, Hopeman, Insch, Inverurie and Kemnay on a home and away basis, providing a great opportunity for friendly competition, a tasty meal and some good golfing “crack”.

Our Resident Poet Writes

As our Match Secretary (and resident poet), Tom Baker, writes:

The trees are a pest and so is the sand

But the fairways are great and the greens are grand.

The Alford Seniors are a happy clan

So come and join us if you can.

Senior Away Days ...

The Senior Away Day is a very popular event with plenty of prizes and opportunities for conviviality while the success of the Alford Senior Open is testimony to a wide-spread regard for our course and facilities.

All in all, if the body and domestic circumstances allow, the scope for great senior golf at Alford is superb.
